The Eleventh annual Gustav Vasa seminar focuses on the themes of popular religion, witchcraft and magic. We will invite papers to discuss these themes in multidisciplinary perspectives. The seminar will be held 11.-12.6.2013 at University of Jyväskylä, Finland.

Gustav Vasa seminar is annually arranged by Department of History and Ethnology in University of Jyväskylä. The seminar represents historical topics of varying fields. The themes of past seminars are presented at the Gustav Vasa seminar homepage.

Gustav Vasa ruled Sweden 1523-1560. Because of the many social and political reforms carried out by the king the era is known as the beginning of the early modern period. Our department has paid a lot of attention to the early modern period. The focus of our studies is represented in the work of the research group Early Modern Morals.
